IVA’s offer some benefits over debt management plans. On an IVA you are likely to be offered a discount on the money you owe and you will pay your debt over 60 months. Debt Management Plans often take a very long time to complete.

However there are many disadvantages to the IVA, most not mentioned in the sales pitch, including high application costs, equity in your property at risk in year 4 and if that’s not enough, if you fail to keep up your payments you can be declared bankrupt and lose your home anyway.
